CANIPE CEMETERY This cemetery is located in No. 6 Township, Cleveland County, NC and is situated on an old dirt road 100 yards west of present Highway No.18 leading between Mull's Chapel and home of the late Jim Wright of Shelby, Fallston Highway. Melton "Canipe, C.C., and four mules were killed, were killed her by lightining, Aug. 1, 1917." (This is the literal reading on the stone.) (The stone is about two feet high, eight inches wide, and two inches thick. Mr. Canipe was driving a four-horse tem for Stamey Bros. in Fallston.
