Note: JOHN agrees to pay three hundred pounds for the land. Then, in the condition at the end of the document, it is said that ROBERT will release the land to JOHN when ROBERT has paid all the debts  for which JOHN is surety and, if ROBERT does not pay the debts, then JOHN will pay the three hundred pounds to ROBERT.

Apparently, JOHN has agreed to be Surety for a debt incurred by ROBERT. When and if ROBERT pays the debts for which JOHN is Surety, then JOHN receives the land at no cost to him. But if ROBERT does not pay the debts then JOHN pays three hundred pounds to ROBERT and receives the land.

Either way, JOHN gets the land. If ROBERT pays the debts ( to some third party ) then JOHN gets the land in payment for having been ROBERT'S surety. If ROBERT does not pay the debts, then JOHN gets the land for three hundred pounds.

Creek. Beginning at a Black Oak GEE corner, running east one hundred and nineteen poles to a Red Oak , BRAY line, south with that line forty four poles to a Black Oak, then east thirty five poles, then one hundred and thirty five poles to a Jack Oak and thence west one hundred and fifty five poles to GEE line..........

This document was signed by JOAB CAVINESS and witnessed by ENOCH WILLIAMS and ROBERT STINSON, SEN.

Who was ELIZABETH STINSON ? JOHN STINSON, JR., a son of ROBERT STINSON, SEN., died in 1815. HENRY BRAY, SEN. was co-executor, with ROBERT STINSON, JUN., of JOHN'S estate. Also, HENRY became the guardian of JOHN'S children. This leads one to speculate that JOHN'S wife was a BRAY. ELIZABETH BRAY ? The above named property was partly bounded by BRAY property. If ELIZABETH was JOHN'S wife then ROBERT, SEN. was her father-in-law.

But see the entry for 9 February 1837. ROBERT STINSON, SEN. had a daughter ELIZABETH. She was ELIZABETH WARD in 1837.
