Descendants of Christian TREFFENSTÄTT

Christian TREFFENSTÄTT, the emigrant ancestor of the family, was born in about 1725 in the Rhine River Valley of Germany. He arrived in America on 23 Sep 1753 aboard the ship, “Two Brothers.” After his naturalization, on 9 October 1765, he settled in Northampton County, PA. He settled in the Catawba Valley of North Carolina before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War in the South. Christian died in Sep 1774 and was buried in Rowan (now Catawba) County, NC. Many of his descendants moved from the area and settled in Tennessee, Kentucky and other westward areas. Today, his many of his descendants continue to live in Catawba County. The spelling of the name is quite varied, many having changed it to Travis.
