Gerald Lehman TURBYFILL, son of Roy Harris TURBYFILL and Dolly FINGER, was born on 26 November 1927 in Catawba County, North Carolina. He died on 26 October 2005 at the age of 77 in Maiden City Cemetery, Maiden, Catawba County, North Carolina. He was buried in Salem Lutheran and Reformed Church Cemetery, Lincoln County, North Carolina. His obituary appeared as follows: MAIDEN - Mr. Gerald Lehman Turbyfill, 77, of 118 Soquili Drive, Brevard, formerly of Maiden, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lincolnton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Mr. Turbyfill was born Nov. 26, 1927, in Catawba County to the late Roy and Dolly Finger Turbyfill. He played football on scholarship for North Carolina State University, where he graduated in 1950. He spent the majority of his career as a textile consultant for Kurt Salmon Associates. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Coulter Turbyfill of the home; a son, Gerald Michael Turbyfill of Sugar Grove; two daughters, Deborah Loeb of Chamblee, Ga., and Martha Post of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a brother, Tom Turbyfill of California; and six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 600 Fairview Road, Suite 1200, Charlotte, N.C. 28210. Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton is serving the Turbyfill family.
