James Charles HERMAN and Lilly Belle LEVAN were married estimated 1905. Lilly Belle LEVAN, daughter of Sidney P. LEVAN and Eliza J. GOFORTH, was born on 11 November 1882 in Alexander County, North Carolina. She died on 11 December 1929 at the age of 47 in Alexander County, North Carolina.

Ida Mae HERMAN was born on 23 February 1915 in Alexander County, North Carolina. She died on 21 May 2011 at the age of 96 in Taylorsville, Alexander County, North Carolina. She was buried in St. Luke Lutheran Church Cemetery, Taylorsville, NC. Her obituary appeared as follows: TAYLORSVILLE Ida Mae Herman Reese, 96, of U.S. Hwy 64/90 West, Taylorsville, died on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at her residence. She was born on Feb. 23, 1915 in Alexander County to the late James Charles Herman and Lilly Levan Herman. She was a lifetime member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She had worked at Lerner's Department Store and enjoyed gardening and sewing. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Reese; two sisters, Minnie Wike and Lou Martin and six brothers, Robert Herman, Lee Herman, George Herman, Sam Herman, Fred Herman and John Herman. Survivors include a daughter, Mae Little and husband, Ned of Taylorsville; a son, Lynn Reese and wife, Marilyn of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Vickie Hayes, Julie Cody, Johnny Reese and Jimmy Reese and six great-grandchildren, Lyndon Hayes, Jarod Hayes, Sarah Cody, Alex Cody, Will Reese and C. J. Reese. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at St. Luke Lutheran Church by the Rev. Andrew Miller. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service. Graveside services were private. Condolences may be sent to the Reese family at www.adamsfunerals. com.
