Mary HERMAN and William [Diehl] DEAL were married about 1797 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. William [Diehl] DEAL⁴⁸, son of Jacob [Diehl] DEAL and Margaret ROSEMAN, was born on 8 November 1774 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.^41,44 He died on 8 November 1824 at the age of 50 in Lincoln (Catawba County), North Carolina.^7,41,42,44 He was buried in St. John's Lutheran Church (MO Synod) Cemetery, Conover, Catawba County, NC. His will reads, in part:

to Noah Deal, of the county of Lincoln - Deal land in Lincoln County on Clark's Creek joining Peter Herman, crosses Burke County Road. 210 acres. Said land was originally granted to Killian by two state grants and conveyed as it appears on records.

Wit. E. E. Deal and Moses Herman."
