Her obituary read: HICKORY - Maenell Ruth Cline Stallings, 79, of N.C. 10 West, Vale, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Lutheran Home-West after two years of declining health. Born March 26, 1925, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Roy M. and Vera Wilson Cline. A member of Corinth Baptist Church, she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Cline; and a sister, Rachel Lynch. Survivors include her husband, George Thurmand “Jack” Stallings of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Linda Stallings and Randy and Karen Stallings of Vale; five granddaughters, Melissa and Chad Fulbright, Audra and Kelly Leonhardt and Dana Stallings of Vale, Ammie Blanchard of Hendersonville and Rita and Eric Flynn of Newton; three sisters, Marge Green, Jacqueline Sigmon and husband, Gwyn, and Billie McMahan and husband, Jack, all of Hickory; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. William Kanupp at 2 p.m. Sunday at Corinth Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jack Cline, Willy Cline, Melvin Matthews, Bill Stallings, Dan Cline, Virgil Falls and Troy Stallings. The family will be at the church from 6:30 to 8 tonight. Hickory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
