21. Johannes (John) KLEIN {F2.6.1} was born on 28 Apr 1701 in Postorff, Alsace,29 Johannes, his wife and their four children under age 16 go to America according to notations on baptism records.They emigrate to Pennsylvania on the ship Phoenix, landing on 20 October 1744 in Philadelphia, and settle in Longswamp township, Berks county, PA.

Two of Johannes’ five sons, Theobald and George, are naturalized in the fall of 1765 in Longswamp township (PA3, p 295). Johannes’ son Theobald has a daughter Anna Margretha baptized at Longswamp Reformed Church on 21 May 1769 (Pennsylvania Archives 9).

Johannes’ son Nicholas may be the one on the Longswamp township tax list in 1768. Nicholas and Maria Elizabeth Mertz Klein have daughters Christina (born 1769) and Elisabeth (born 1775) baptized at Longswamp Reformed Church (PA9).

No record is found in Pennsylvania for Johannes’ two other sons, Johannes (b 9 Apr 1733) and the one probably named Jacob or Peter (b 14 June 1725).

Johannes (John) KLEIN {F2.6.1} and Anna Margreta GANGLOFF were married on 21 Apr 1722. Johannes (John) KLEIN {F2.6.1} and Anna Margreta GANGLOFF had the following children:

Sebastian KLEIN {F2.6.1.1} was born on 29 Jan 1723 anddied on 18 Feb 1723. Note in church record says he “went to America”, but the note was intended for Sebastian, son of Moritz Klein.

Nicholas KLEIN {F2.6.1.2} was born on 5 Feb 1724.

Son KLEIN {F2.6.1.3} was born on 14 Jun 1725.30 He may be the Jacob or Peter, which are names of his godparents. A Peter Klein is confirmed 21 Apr 1742 (ALSI p. 462).

Johannes KLEIN I {F2.6.1.4} was born on 17 Sep 1727 and died on 15 Dec 1728.

Hans Gorg KLEIN {F2.6.1.8} was born on 21 Jul 1740.33 He was naturalized in the fall of 1765 in Longswamp Township, Berks county, Pennsylvania. This is the George, the progenitor of the Ohio Clines.
