Sixth Generation

75. Elizabeth "Betsy" [Klein] CLINE {1.4.7} 64,129 was born about 1748 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania130,131 and died after 1799 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.132 Elizabeth Cline is a daughter of Sebastian Cline and marries Henry Propst, (per Ciscero Cline). Henry Propst lives next door to Sebastian Cline and interacts closely with the Cline family, including his attendance at Sebastian Cline's 1794 estate sale. Sebastian sells some of his Clark's Creek land to Henry Propst in 1775, about the time that Elizabeth Cline and Henry Propst marry. Henry Propst's will of February 1799 identifies his wife Elizabeth Propst, a daughter Caty Propst and four sons: John, Michael, Jacob and Daniel Propst. These facts support the presumption that Elizabeth is a daughter of Sebastian Cline.

The Henry Propst family appears in the Lincoln county 1790 and 1800 census. In the 1800 census Elizabeth is listed as born 1755-1774. Elizabeth appears as widow Propst, born 1750-1760, on page 152 of the Lincoln county 1830 census. These census entries establish that Elizabeth is born 1755-1760 and the birth dates of her children suggest that her birth date is about 1755. Elizabeth and Henry Propst live on the 90 acres on Anthony's Branch of Clarks Creek that her father and mother sold to them on July 22, 1775.

Henry wills to his sons Jacob, Michael, and Daniel Propst 270 acres on Big Pigeon River in Buncombe county. He also wills to his son John two pieces of land on Clark's Creek, consisting of the 90 acres that Henry obtained from Sebastian (Boston) Cline and 50 acres that are Henry's by a state grant.

Elizabeth "Betsy" [Klein] CLINE {1.4.7} and Henry [Probst\Brobst] PROPST were married in 1770 in Lincoln (Catawba) County, North Carolina.133 Henry [Probst\Brobst] PROPST was born between 4 Jun 1738 and 1740 in Berks or Lancaster County, Pensylvania or possibly Schwaigem, Wuerttemberg, Germany.134,135 He resided in Cabarrus County, North Carolina on Elks Creek (now Mount Pleasant) per Bill Brobst, about 1755.136 He appears in the 1790 Lincoln County, North Carolina census with eight individuals in household137 and was identified as a doctor of veterinary medicine.139 He died on 16 Feb 1799 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.132 His will provides 140 acres to his son John. To sons Jacob, Michael and Daniel he gave 270 acres.138 He owned in State of North Carolina granted him an additional 50 acres. The state of North Carolina granted him an additional 50 acres. He also inherited 90 acres from Sebastian Klein, his wife's father. Henry and Elizabeth settled on a part of the land entered by Sebastian Klein and Mathias (Bieber) Beaver, on Clark's Creek.

He served in the battle of 1812 as a private under General Jackson and Captain McLains, receiving a pension for his service (WC-2221).

Michael was a shoemaker, living on west side of the south Fork River on land that Nancy's father had given her two other tracts of land. One listed Lincoln County deeds of 1805 from a John A. Wilson was 85 acres on the Catawba River for $200.0, and the other 83 acres on Allen's Creek for 50 silver dollars. Michael became very prosperous and served in the Battle of 1812 as a private under General Jackson and Captain J. McLains, receiving a pension for his service (Serial Number WC-2221).
