Inscription:
In Memory of Rev. John Robinson, D.D. who died December 15th, 1843 in the 75th
year of his age, 50th of his ministry. For 36, the faithful, esteemed and pious
pastor of Poplar Tent Church. As a preacher he was plain, practical, eloquent.
In his deportment dignified, in his manners courteous. While he feared not the
face of man, he bowed humbly before his God. He loved the Church and spent his
life in her service. He loved his Country and while he punctually exercised
the rights, he faithfully discharged the duties of a good citizen. Mark the
perfect man and behold the upright for the end of that man is peace.
