In the name of God, Amen. I Margaret Harris of the County of Cabarrus and State of North Carolina, being sick and in a low State of health but perfectly sound in mind and memory blessed be God for all his mercies do this eighth day of October in the year of our Lord 1824 make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner following that is to say.
First it is my will that all my just debts be paid out of such of my personal property as my executor may think most proper to make sale of for that purpose.
Then I do give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Violet E. L. Harris, the whole of my property both real and personal after paying my just debts as before mentioned.
But in the event of the said Violet E. L. Harris’ death previous to her having any heirs of her body then it is my will that my property be divided in the following manner,
First it is my will in the event of my daughter Violet’s death under
the circumstances before stated that the whole of my property be sold by my
executor at twelve months credit and the money arising from such sale to be
equally divided between the following people that :
my brother in law Wm. Bean Alexander
my sister Mary M. Lane
my sister Sarah Caldwell
my brother John Davidson
my brother Benjamin W. Davidson
and my stepson James Sidney Harris
Lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint my friend and brother in law Wm. L. Davidson my Executor to execute this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I Margaret Harris the testator have this day and year first above written set my hand and seal in presence of
