"Partial reading"

transcribed by Sharon Payne Perdue, with last visit in September 2000; the transcribers notes are [bracketed].

There used to be a church building here, but it was destroyed when it was no longer used.  (From Ben Callahan), It was Lutheran Union Church and in later years this church and the nearby Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church combined to form Mt. Gilead Lutheran Church.

From Mount Pleasant take Hwy 73 toward Albemarle, Hahn Scott road is on the right before you get to Mt Gilead Lutheran Church. The road & sign to the Henkelite Cemetery is about 1 mile on the right. The road & sign are next to a large group of trees which sometimes makes it hard to find.

From Albemarle take Hwy 73 toward Concord, pass Mt Gilead Lutheran Chruch on the right. Hahn Scott road is the 1st or 2nd road on the left.

Another set of directions:  Travel from Mt. Pleasant toward Albemarle and a short ways from Mt. Pleasant there is a small road that turns right... It's Hahn-Scott road... A short distance out that road is a field... literally a field with a road through it or beside it. The cemetery is out of sight from the road over the hill. Once you get there it is a most beautiful vista of the countryside.
