This is the final G.A.A. letter. It was posted in Happy Home, NC (Now Connelly Springs). In one of the letters, he refers to teaching at a school and a cousin, Robert L. Abernethy. "The school numbers about 80 students and there is a fine prospect of it closing with over a hundred students as usual." The "Cousin R. L. Abernethy" referred to in the letter was Robert Laban Abernethy, the founder of Rutherford College. I suspect the school G.A.A. refers to is Rutherford College. Gideon was a teacher there. And, I note that Rutherford College, NC, is only a few miles north of Connelly Springs.
