Previously served as Captain of Company G, 41st Regiment N. C. Troops (3rd Regiment N. C. Cavalry) and was under appointment as 2nd Lieutenant and County Enrolling Officer when he was appointed to command this company in October 1863. Declined appointment as 2nd Lieutenant and County Enrolling Officer.
HINES, JOHN S.
Previously served as Captain, Assistant Quartermaster, of the 19th Regiment N. C. Troops (2nd Regiment N. C. Cavalry) and was on duty as Drillmaster with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant when he was assigned to the command of this company in October 1863. Present or accounted for until the battalion was disbanded in June 1864 and he returned to his original assignment as Drillmaster.
