Know all by these presents that we Benj Rowell and Mary Rowell my wife both of the state and county aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars to us in hand paid by John G Scull before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof we doth hereby acknowledge to have granted, bargained, sold, and delivered unto John G Scull his heirs executors adminstrators and assigns forever a certain negro man named Sam. To have and to hold all and singular the said negro Sam above bargained and sold mentioned or intended so to be to the said John G Scull his heirs executors and assigns forever and we the said Benj Rowell and Mary my wife our heirs executors adminstrators and assigns do hereby warrant and defend the said negro Sam to him the said John G Scull his heirs & forever against all person or persons whomsoever. In witness whereof we the said Benjamin Rowell and Mary Rowell wife of the said Benj Rowell have hereunto set our hands and seals the 23 day of January A Domini 1807.
