Notes (from unknown contributor):
This recording would not have been possible without the assistance of the Pierce and Russ families and in particular Mrs. Myrtle Russ. I talked with Mrs. Russ in October of 2001 at the home of her daughter, Evone Gore, in Ocean Isle Beach, NC.

Family Notes:
Myrtle Russ is the grand-daughter of Daniel Pierce. He owned the lands known as Pierce lands off of Hwy 179, in Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Daniel dedicated one acre of land for the burying of the family members, but he could never turn down anyone or anyone's family who asked to be buried there. Daniel fought for the Confederate troops during the Civil War.
Daniel married Amelia who had a twin sister named Amanda. Amanda married Morton Parker. Daniel Pierce and Morton Parker tried to keep the Camp Methodist Church in Shallotte going by hiring a "circuit rider" preacher. That church became the New Hope Methodist Church.

W. Franklin Pierce owned a store and lived upstairs. He was also the Postmaster.

Elizabeth Soos was the mother of Steve Becky. She was of Hungarian descent.
