William Boyd to Benjamin Rowell, 1805

This indenture made the 25th day of October AD 1805 between William Boyd of the county of Brunswick and State of North Carolina of the one part and Benj Rowell Snr of the same county of the other part. Witnesseth that he the said William for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current money of the said state to him in hand paid by the said Benjamin the receipt whereof the said William doth hereby acknowledge, he the said William hath granted, bargained, sold, enfeoffed, conveyed, and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, enfeoff, convey, and confirm unto him the said Benjamin the following tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Brunswick and state aforesaid and containing by estimation two hundred and thirty six acres be the same more or less. Which said tract of land was laid off for Jacob Jacobs out of an old survey of 640 acres granted to Samuel Waters. Beginning at a cypress on the water of Livingston Creek running thence S 29 W320 poles to a pine one of the eupper corners of said tract, thence with the back line N 59 west 128 poles to a pine corner of a fifty acre tract set off for James Smith, thence with one of his lines N 29 E 127 poles to a pine another of his corners near a bay, thence N 44 E 280 poles to a small ash on the side of Livingston Creek, and with the meanders of the same to the beginning. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances unto him the said Benjamin his heirs and assigns forever and the said William doth for himself, his heirs, executors, and administrators warrant and forever defend the said tract or parcel of land unto him the said Benjamin his heirs and assigns from the lawful claims or claims of any person or persons whatsoever.
