This indenture made the twenty-eighth day October Anno Domini One Thousand Eight Hundred and Three and twenty-eighth year of the independence of said state between Joel Allen of the State of South Carolina of the one part and Benjamin Rowell of the state of North Carolina of the other part witnesseth:
that for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen dollars to the said Joel Allen in hand paid by said Benjamin at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and the therefore doth release acquit and discharge the said Benjamin his heirs executors and administrators by these presents he the said Joel has granted bargained and sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, and confirm unto the said Benjamin and his heirs a certain piece or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Brunswick and state aforesaid containing one hundred acres lying on both sides of a branch known by the name of the Horsepen branch bounded as followeth: beginning at a pine Daniel McFarlain line and running east forty chains to a pine, then north twenty five chains, then west forty chains, then south twenty chains to the beginning which said tract was granted to the said Joel and all house buildings ways waters whatsoever is profits commodities hereditaments and remainders rents if owes and profits thereof and also all the estate rights title and interest use trust property claim and demand whatsoever of him the said Joel Allen of in and to the said premises to have and to hold the tract hereby conveyed and all and singular the premises hereby granted, bargained, and sold and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their privileges, rights, members, and appurtenances unto the said Benjamin Rowell his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Benjamin and of his heirs and assigns forever and the said Joel Allen for himself heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise and grant to and with the said Benjamin his heirs and assigns against him the said Joel and his heirs and all and every person and persons whatsoever shall warrant and forever defend by these presents.
