Board Members

The NCGenWeb Board welcomes you to the NCGenWeb website.  We began our tenure in July 2009 and hope you are able to find your way around the various county resources.  We, along with all the site coordinators, co-coordinators, & record contributors are all dedicated to doing our best in helping you locate available materials.  NCGenWeb would not be possible without all of your contributions and we look forward to continued partnerships!

If you have any questions, please let us or the individual county site coordinators know.

Katherine @ 9 mos.

Assistant State Coordinator:  Katherine Benbow — Katherine’s interest in genealogy began in the 1970’s. She joined NCGenWeb in 2004 when she became the County Coordinator for Guilford County.  She currently serves as the County Coordinator for Guilford,  Iredell & Surry counties with NCGenWeb, and for Charles City and Gloucester counties with VAGenWeb.   Katherine is currently a member of the nominating committee for NCGS, and administers seven surname projects with Family Tree DNA.  In 1995 she was elected the historian for the Charles Benbow Family, and she maintains their records and website (www.benbowfamily.com). Katherine grew up in North Carolina, graduated from Hollins College, earned her MSW from the University of Denver, and now works as a licensed clinical social worker.
Deloris,1969Deloris in 1969 Assistant State Coordinator: Deloris Williams – Deloris became interested in genealogy when her maternal grandmother died in 1994 and she realized that most of the rest of the family didn’t know too much about who their grandmother’s parents had been. It became something that Deloris decided to pursue when a few years later she found she had time on her hands and genealogy has since become something she now wonders how she ever had missed out on it for so many years. Her research has connected to so many families in the North Carolina Counties of her ancestors that she has collected many records and genealogies for families in Warren, Halifax, Granville, Wake, Franklin and Wake Counties and has helped many of those families in their own research over the years.

She has been a member of the NCGenWeb since 2006, where she has been an Assistant Coordinator for Granville County, is Coordinator for Vance County, and has also worked on the Warren County website over the years in transcribing records, creating pages for documents submitted by researchers, and helping to establish an African American page. Deloris maintains a family tree, My North Carolina Roots, as well as several Plantation & Slavery research pages on the Sankofagen Wiki African American Genealogy website, under Franklin, Granville and Warren Counties at  http://sankofagen.pbworks.com/North+Carolina.aaaa
