Here is info on the James B. Barnhill family. I believe James' middle name was "Bradley" not "Bradbury" Barnhill. His headstone at Haw Bluff shows this.

James Bradley Barnhill was the son of John Phillip Barnhill and Zilpha Horrell. He was born 12 Dec 1853 and died 9 Jan 1913 and is buried in the Haw Bluff Cemetery near Kelly, in Bladen County.

James was married twice:

1st to: Virginia Anders Boswell B. 20 May 1858 D. 25 Aug 1895, daughter of John Cannady Boswell & Mary Sapphire Woodcock.

Virginia Anders Boswell Barnhill died 15 days after giving birth to James Rufus. He is believed to have been adopted by the "William Pope" family and appears with them in the 1900 census at age 5 and in 1910.

James remarried 10 Sept 1902 in Point Caswell, Pender County to Caroline Lena Jordan, daughter of David Alexander Jordan & Euphemia "Effie" Scriven.
