My wife is a descendent of Simeon Byrkett, b 1813 in Ashe Co., NC, who arrived in Miami county about 1850. I am looking for information that would connect him to the Byrkett's of the West Milton area (who are tied to the Hoovers) and the Abraham Byrkett family in Tipp City. My research tends to indicate that all three lines can be traced to Christian Burkhardt/Burkett, but I have been unable to find links between the three, or a definite link between Simeon and Christian. Following is a partial outline of Simeon's family. I have additional information (spouse, etc) for many of them, and would be happy to share. Any help would be appreciated. My name is Claude E. Wells. I have been doing research on my mothers family, the McMillan Clan of Ashe Co. From all info I have discovered and connected and contacts I have met on the WEB I know the following: The family trees roots in the America's began with the arrival of: John McMillan and his wife Marion nee McLymont ot McLeamont or Lamont abt the year 1788 from Scotland. There is information that says they married on board ship during the crossing. They left Scotland due to the Scottish laws of teh time that didnot allow the younger daughters to marry before the eldest daughter in the family. As Marion's older sister didn't have any suitors, John and Marion decided to immigrate to the Americas, marry and start a new life. He was the first Clerk of the Court of Ashe County when it became a county. I have a lot of data and I am trying to fill in blanks, like dates and places and history. A lot of the family supposedly still ives in the area of Nathans Creek and on the old Land Grant Properties originally belonging to John. The Reeves family is closely connected through marriage and alot of other older families associated which lived in the area. A lot of info I have was obtained from the book the Heritage of Ashe County. and from contacts I have made on teh ineternet. I also had some info from family members who had started some research and added it all together. I have a user web site on the Family Tree Maker home page at http://www.familytreemaker.com. Once you get there you go to the user home pages and look under my name Claude E. Wells. I am trying to get dates, places and history for the clan from John and Marion to the present. Also if anyone has any information about where John and Marion came from in Scotland so I can search backwards further in time. I know he was born in 1756, I also know the month and day but they are not handy right this momment, and about when Marion was born, actually only an idea of the year based on her tombstone. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail address is cwells4944@aol.com hope to hear some good news soon. If not I will just keep plodding along and searching. Claude E. Wells 3809 Philadelphia Road Abingdon, MD 21009
