Saturday, 24 January, 1998 1:27 PM Gary A. Lewis garyl@airnet.ne

I need info on a James Lewis listed in the Ashe Co. tax list for 1815. He is listed as Lewes but this is a mispelling of Lewis. The 1810 Ashe Co. census list him as a J. Lewis (two J. Lewises, Junior and Senior or most probably cousins according to published geneology). He is listed in the 1815 tax list with his brothers,Nathan, Gedion and Issac. This tax list was posted on the web by Sandra Lassen (slassen@infoave.net) I know according to the published geneology that James Lewis was born in 1779, and had a cousin also named James born ca 1763. What I need to know is the day and month if possible for the James Lewis born in 1779. I do not have the resources locally to look this individual up. He shows-up in the 1810 census the 1815 tax listing but not in the 1820 census. Thanks, Gary A. Lewis garyl@airnet.net

Wednesday, 21 January, 1998 6:23 PM Claude E. Wells claude.wells@lmco.com

Greetings to all parties concerned. On September 25, 1997 I placed a query on this site for any and all info relating to John and Marion McMillan of Ashe County. I have been contacted by many new family members who have been willing to share their family info to make our tree big and strong. I am still looking for more data on some of the associated familes, like the GAMBILL'S, COLVARD'S, REEVES, KOONTZ'S (KOONS, KUNTZ & CUNTZ), PHELPS', FIELDS' and I know I have forgotten sombody. Also wanted to pass on to anyone interested, through perserverance and blind dumb luck, I may of located where John and Marion started from in Scotland. If I can verify Marion's Old Parish Record exists I will be 99.9% sure they came from Edinburgh, which supports the family tradition of origin. IF so then everyone will also have to correct John's birth date according to the MacMillan Society Clan Archivist in Scotland he was actually born in 1759 in October. I have a family report at my Family Tree Maker web site User page: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/w/e/l/claude-e-wells/

Sunday, 18 January, 1998 3:11 PM Judie L. Caroleo Roleus2@aol.com

My name: Judie (Hodgson) Caroleo My father: James Larry Hodgson (born in West Jefferson His mother: Bina (Roten) Hodgson His father : Arthur Hodgson?? It is here that my information gets stonewalled, my grandfather has evidently been dead for a very long time, there really is not anyone left who remembers much about him. Rumor is that his mother was named Ellen Campbell and that her parents came over from Scotland. This is one of the facts I am desperately trying to verify, but am having no luck. Any help or advice you can give would be most appreciated! Thank you.
